Grants Writer and Researcher (part-time) Virginia Fundraising Consultants

Virginia Fundraising Consultants, a fundraising consulting firm located in Norfolk, VA, is seeking a grants writer to join our growing team.  This position will provide support to our non-profit clients—helping them to improve their financial capacity.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Study and understand the history, structure, objectives, programs and financial needs of the client.

• Research grant opportunities from government and non-government agencies.

• Draft grant proposals and supporting documents based on the funding requirements of the organization.

• Ensure quality, accuracy and completeness of all submitted applications.

• Maintain positive relationships with funders and other stakeholders.

• Maintain records and submit reports related to grant opportunities.

• Maintain grant calendar and spreadsheet.

Candidates should have excellent research and communication skills and have the ability to solve problems effectively, efficiently and creatively. They should be comfortable working on multiple projects at once and have flexibility to move easily from one project to another in a fast-paced environment.  Excellent attention to detail and follow-up skills are needed.  Other requirements include:

• Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, creative writing or a related area.

• A minimum of two years’ experience in grant writing.

• Excellent knowledge of proposal submission and fundraising processes.

• Ability to study and understand programs and funding requirements of the organization.

• Strong research skills and knowledge of information sources.

• Multitasking, organizational and time management skills.

• Ability to handle confidential matters with utmost integrity.

Part time (20-30 hours/wk). Contracted work. Flexible schedule. 

Compensation: $35 to $50 an hour (based on experience)
